Rethinking the Office: Is Remote Work the Future?

“I don’t need to be in the office to do my work, and I don’t see the logic in commuting an hour each way every day just to sit in the office and work, when the last 4 years have shown that I can do it just as effectively from home!”

Last week, at a work-related conference, the conversation turned to how remote and hybrid working have had such a positive impact on the lives of so many professionals.

We discussed the trend of some companies pushing for a full-time return to the office, and everyone at the table agreed: such a policy could lead to mass resignations within their organisations.

As we step into 2025, many businesses initially appeared focused on bringing employees back to the office. But is this really the best strategy?

I came across an excellent article from MRINetwork, part of a four-part series, that dives into the advantages and disadvantages of remote work.

Below, I’ve included an excerpt that I found particularly insightful:

“Remote work has transformed the way organisations operate, offering flexibility, cost savings, and access to a wider talent pool. However, it’s not without challenges, such as maintaining culture, collaboration, and employee engagement.”

What are your thoughts on the future of work? Is remote/hybrid working here to stay, or will we see more organisations rolling back the clock?
