At 19:56, my phone pinged with a message: “Got the job. Verbal offer made this evening.”
There’s something special about receiving these messages, particularly when the final interview happened just a few hours earlier. It’s a moment that never fails to remind me why I love what I do.
Now, to be completely transparent, I wasn’t the recruiter who placed him into this role. But this senior executive has been a long-standing client of Talent Partners. He came incredibly close to landing a Director-level role we were recruiting for recently, only to be edged out right at the end. It was a tough result for him, but he handled it with the professionalism you’d expect from someone at his level. #
Then came the company restructuring, leaving him back on the market and facing the uncertainty that so often follows these situations. We stayed in touch, and while I wasn’t directly involved in his most recent job search, I was more than happy to offer guidance and support along the way.
That’s why I was so thrilled to receive his message. Not because we had placed him this time, but because recruitment is more than just placing candidates—it’s about building genuine relationships. In times of transition, like the one he faced, those relationships make all the difference.
Finding the right role in a competitive market can be daunting, especially for senior professionals. His journey reminded me that supporting someone through the twists and turns of a job search, even when the immediate outcome isn’t a placement, can still leave a lasting impact.
I’m confident he’s landed in the right place, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in his new role. These moments of shared success are why we stay connected to our candidates and clients, through the highs and lows.
